Size 675 is zinc-air, Renata IEC PR44, 11.6 × 5.4 mm, 660 mAh, 1.45 V on the Renata chart. That outline is also LR44 and also 357/303. The chemistry is not. A 675 belongs in a hearing aid, tab removed when it is fitted, holes left open to air. It does not belong in a calculator that asked for an LR44.

Can I substitute it?

Same millimetres as LR44 and 357, different chemistry and a different voltage class (about 1.4 V zinc-air versus 1.5 V alkaline versus 1.55 V silver oxide). Do not cross them.

Zinc-air hearing-aid cells

Hearing-aid cells are zinc-air. The cathode is oxygen from the room, let in through holes that ship sealed under a tab. Energizer's zinc-air manual gives the system a nominal voltage of 1.4 V, says the cell is at its best when the capacity is used within a few weeks of pulling the tab, and says that in a hearing aid it can replace a silver-oxide cell and usually run longer. Renata's scope chart rates the same four sizes at 1.45 V. Both figures are printed. Neither has been averaged into a third number.

The four sizes in that chart are 10 (PR70, 5.8 × 3.6 mm), 312 (PR41, 7.9 × 3.6 mm), 13 (PR48, 7.9 × 5.4 mm) and 675 (PR44, 11.6 × 5.4 mm). Size 675 shares its outline with LR44 and with the 357/303 silver-oxide cell. The chemistry does not. A 675 with the tab pulled will dry out in a watch drawer. A watch does not give it the air path a hearing aid does. Leave zinc-air in the hearing aid.

Energizer's product datasheets for these four sizes were not at the old PDF addresses when this index was built, so the milliamp-hour figures below are Renata's, from the scope chart, and the cross-reference codes (AC13, PR48, and the rest) are from Energizer's battery replacement guide. Tab colour is not listed, because it was not on the documents we kept.
